Cù Bòcan Tweet Tasting

Continuing our teeming throng of industry leading, Twitter trending Tweet Tastings (the original series of virtual tastings), we’re thrilled to announce that on Thursday March 10th, we’ll be teaming up again with our friends at Cù Bòcan, to pour and explore a gaggle of their glorious lightly peated single malts; headlined by their two dramspankingly new Creation releases.

Produced at the Tomatin Distillery, every winter lightly peated Scottish barley is used to distil limited batches of a subtly smoky and surprisingly sweet spirit, which is then matured in a variety of casks to become Cù Bòcan single malt.

On the night, we’ll be sharing, sipping and savouring Cù Bòcan’s Signature, Creation #2 (Matured in Japanese Shochu casks and European virgin oak casks), Creation #3 (Matured in Moroccan Cabernet Sauvignon and North American Rye casks) and Creation #4 (Matured in a combination of Tawny Port and Cognac casks) bottlings.

Full details to follow, but if you fancy taking part in what promises to be a Highland hootendrammy of an evening click here to register your details by emailing your name, postal address, mobile number, Twitter handle and date of birth. Nose: An enticing and very inviting allure of dates, raisins, poached pears, toffee apples, grilled peaches, summer pudding, dulce de leche and warm Danish pastries. Followed by honey nut cornflakes, malt loaf, cherry lozenges, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, rich oak, tobacco leaf, wood spice and a stick of seaside rock.

Palate: Wave upon wave of wood spice, calvados steeped raisins and prunes, apricots, grilled peaches and toffee apples. Followed by demerara sugar, hazelnuts, toasted coconut chips, malt loaf, espresso coffee, mixed spice, cayenne pepper and Fireball Jawbreakers.

Finish: A full-on, right rollicking ride of finish, that lingers on, and on, and on…

Summary: This is actually my first foray into the Seattle, Washington based Westland Distillery, and it certainly won’t be my last! This 6th release in their limited-edition Garryana series, is as brazen as it is beautiful and as gutsy as it is glorious!

Spearhead Whisky Tweet Tasting

It’s all about the glory of the grain! Well, it is as far as our next and 224th Tweet Tasting is concerned!

We’re thrilled to announce that on Thursday February 24th, we’ll be teaming up again with our very good friends at Loch Lomond, to share, sip and serve up all the dramming splendour of their Spearhead single grain Scotch whisky.

Launched last year, Spearhead has been produced using spirit from Loch Lomond’s continuous Coffey style still, which was matured in ex-bourbon barrels, before being finished in a combination of fire and infrared-toasted virgin American oak barrels.

The innovative infrared barrels allow for an exact level of toast that extracts natural properties in the barrel, releasing a range of flavours from the wood that are then caramelized to give a complex range of sweet notes.

Spearhead, is said to showcase pioneering craftsmanship and whisky-making techniques which create a lighter spirit, aiming to encourage more drinkers to enter the world of whisky.

Full details to follow, but if you fancy sipping and mixing some splendorous Spearhead based sips click here to register your interest by emailing your name, address, mobile number, date of birth and Twitter handle. Please remember to mark the subject line of your email: #SpearheadWhisky

The closing date to register is February 1st, and if you are registering please make sure that you will actually be free on the night of February 24th to take part!
