Quick Fire Whisky Tasting Notes

InchDairnie RyeLaw
Single Grain Scotch Whisky
46.3% ABV / RRP: £110.00

Nose: A feisty full-on fruit fest of red delicious apples, vanilla infused poached pears, maraschino cherries and orange peel. Followed by Müller Corner blueberry yogurt, tea steeped prunes, Jamaican spiced bun, Quality Street toffee pennies, aniseed twists, Edinburgh rock, white pepper, sweet oak and righteous amounts of rye spice.

Palate: A punch of pimento and garish amounts of ginger lead the palatable charge, along with sea salted crackers, digestive biscuits and a cinnamon heavy apple pie. Those maraschino cherries and aniseed twists make another appearance, and are very quickly joined by dulce de leche, toasted oak, caramelised fennel fronds, After Eight mint chocolates and more of that ravishing rye spice.

Finish: A sweet, rye-spiced and all things nice, medium (but in no way short changed) kind of a finish.

Summary: Having been blown away by a visit to their then newly opened distillery in 2016, I was genuinely thrilled to be able to finally sample their inaugural release. It certainly doesn’t disappoint - with all of its right rollicking rye roundness, and it makes for an excellent tease for what is to come release wise over the coming years.

White Peak Distillery Tweet Tasting

More industry leading, social media based dramfotainment you ask? Well as ever, allow us to very gladly oblige!

When it comes to craft whisky distilling in England, there’s one distillery in particular that ticks all the right boxes for us with regards to its craft credentials, authenticity, ethos, innovation and of course its liquid; the Derbyshire based White Peak Distillery - which we’re thrilled to be teaming up with for our latest Tweet Tasting on July 19th.

On the night we’ll be pouring and exploring our way through a selection of their Wire Works whisky wares; Alter Ego, Caduro and Virgin Oak Finish, along with their latest release which launches at the end of July.

Not only have White Peak’s Wire Works releases been some of the most exciting English whisky bottlings we’ve sampled over the last couple of years - with each and every one knocking it out of the park, they’re also one of the most exciting names in the wider whisky category as a whole.

We can’t wait to share what is a sensational set of sensory stories, so if you fancy taking part click here to register your details by emailing your name, postal address, mobile number, Twitter handle and date of birth. Please also remember to mark the subject line of your email: #WireWorksWhisky

The closing date to register is June 27th, and if you are registering to take part, please make sure that you will actually be free on the evening of July 19th to take part!
