Quick Fire Rum Tasting Notes

Appleton Estate 12 Year Old Rare Casks
Jamaican Single Traditional Blended Rum
43% ABV

Nose: Raucously ripe bananas, grilled peaches, prunes, dates, sultanas, dried sour cherries, Frank Coopers original Oxford marmalade, vanilla fudge, buttered sweet and salted popcorn and toasted hazelnuts. Followed by more nasal niceties in the form of McVitie's digestive biscuits, chocolate covered coffee beans, Waitrose treacle tart, molasses, aniseed twists, freshly polished oak, pimento seeds and a good pinch of mixed spice.

Palate: Oodles of opulent oak, spiced banana bread, orange marmalade, prunes, sultanas, Werther’s Original creamy toffees, Cadbury Dairy Milk whole nut and Lotus Biscoff biscuits. The palatable pleasures continue with black treacle, Green & Blacks cocoa, espresso coffee, tobacco leaf, pimento seeds, mixed spice, anise and something mentholy fresh.

Finish: A full on, right rollicking rum rollercoaster ride of a finish, that just keeps on delivering and highlighting all of the notes that have harmoniously delighted and seduced the senses!

Summary: We’re just as passionate about rum as we are whisky - particularly those that hail from Jamaica, and in our opinion Appleton 12 Year Old is one of the best, if not "the best" rum all-rounders on the market. Not only does its gloriously garish and richly rewarding balance make for a solo sipping superstar, it’s an absolute boss on the cocktail front. It also just happens to be the perfect bridging rum to and from the world of whisky!
