The Whisky Wire Jura Tweet Tasting

Continuing our hugely successful string of Tweet Tastings, last night we held our latest event exploring a joyous and jubilant jamboree of Jura’s.

In the good company of our assembled group of Tweet Tasters, we sampled the entire core range from the Jura Distillery, which consisted of their 10yr, Superstition, 16yr, Prophecy & their 21yr old 200 Anniversary Edition bottling.

Here’s a few of the tweeted tasted highlights from last night:

Jura 10 Year Old

@HTFWhisky Apple Crumble doused in Nutmeg on the nose, lots of wild honey on the palate, very fine hint of peat to finish.
@TheWhiskyBoys Buttery sweet honey & white pepper, citrus breakfast juice, dryness of grapefruit & a heather field.
@ifotou Seaside saltiness with dark cocoa, citrus notes, pine cones and crushed sunflower seeds.
Jura Superstition

@WhiskyDiscovery Lightly peated, fresh, orange blossom, floral, butterscotch & white pepper, lots of white pepper.
@PresleyKa I'm getting caramel as well and wood charcoal. Reminding me of salted honey roasted nuts.
@TIA568B Sweet honey leading to quite a bit of white pepper spiciness and oatcakes leading on to some dry coal smoke.

Jura 16 Year Old

@fr1day Peaches and oranges dusted with cinnamon & paper glue.
@HTFWhisky A very, very moreish mouth feel, deliciously smooth, oak, thick honey and lots of dried red fruits.
@TheWhiskyBoys Treacle scones, cooked rhubarb, coffee essence, hazelnuts, banana on burnt toast.

Jura Prophecy

@WHISKYILEACH Sweet peat, burnt oak staves on a bonfire with marshmallows, candy floss, pine, creamy toffee.
@whiskyrepublic Smooth, sweet, spicy heat, rubber. Anyone remember gas at the dentists in the 1960's? The rubber block you had to bite on.
@NickDaBird The peat smoke is the big hitter, with orchard fruits & cherries.

Jura 21 Year Old

@AlasterPhillips Ripe bananas, cold earl grey tea, a large bowl of milky coffee and the marzipan off the top of an xmas cake.
@rodbodtoo Complex & layered. Oak spice, grass, spearmint, (lactic) malty. Demerara rum & sugar.
@sgilboa Creamy, gentle, almost Armagnac like. Very rich, sultanas, sherry, dark chocolate, gentle oak.

As ever these are just a light drizzle of the shower of tasting notes from last night. For a full low down head over to Twitter and feast your eyes via hashtag #JuraTT.
